In a world of constant noise, distraction and busyness, it can be difficult to hear the deeper movements of our own hearts, let alone become aware of God’s gentle presence with us.
Quiet Mornings are an invitation to slow down.🌿
They are not a Bible study, a prayer meeting, or a church service. Instead, they offer a simple space for reflection, silence and prayer, helping us become more attentive to God, ourselves and the world around us.
🌿Times of Stillness
Join us on Saturday 4th July & Saturday 1st August 2026
@ 9:20am – Mossley Methodist Church
Each morning begins with tea, coffee and conversation before moving into a period of shared silence. During the morning there will be two short guided reflections, each followed by time for personal quiet. Participants are free to remain seated, move to another part of the church, journal, pray, reflect on scripture or simply rest in stillness.
No previous experience of contemplation is required.
The only posture we bring is one of openness.
There is nothing to achieve, nothing to perform and no expectation that you will have a particular experience. Simply come as you are.
🌿The Hope
The hope is that, in creating space away from the demands and distractions of daily life, we may become more aware of God’s presence already with us.
As John Wesley encouraged people to make use of the means of grace, Quiet Mornings offer one small way of making room for God to meet us afresh.
Whether you are new to contemplative prayer or have practised it for many years, you are warmly welcome.
🌿What to Expect
- Tea, coffee and light refreshments from 9:20am
- A gentle welcome and introduction at 10:00am
- Two guided reflections
- Periods of silence for personal prayer and reflection
- A simple closing time of gratitude and prayer
- Finishing by approximately 12:00 noon
Please feel free to bring a notebook, journal or Bible if you find them helpful, though none are required.
Come as you are.
Come and rest awhile.🌿
