It is with great sadness

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved sister in Christ, Alice Woods.

Late into Saturday night in Ashwood House nursing home after a series of ongoing illnesses Alice left us to be with her Saviour.

All of us here in Mossley extend our deepest sympathy, love and prayers to her husband Ned, daughters Sandra and Ellen, and sons Edward and Samuel. Also to her extended family, her many grand children and great grand children.

The funeral service will take place in Mossley Methodist Church on Thursday 7th September at 10am, followed by 11:30am at Roselawn Crematorium.

Alice was a founding member who sat on the committee that established our Methodist church here in Mossley.

She had a deep love and commitment to the church and the people in it, and for many years was a guiding influence in many church matters. She was especially passionate for the MWI, the ladies in it will be deeply saddened at her passing. Alice for years attended church home group and believed strongly in prayer ministry, always attending prayer and bible study.

Over the years whatever the church was running, from community based fetes and themed fun events to Missions and fundraisers, Alice gave fully of her support and service. She loved seeing young people in the church, this was shown through her championing JMA – Junior Mission for All – encouraging the Mossley children to be aware of and support annual global projects, and they in turn were awarded badges and certificates through their fundraising.

Alice was a lady small in stature, but was truly monumental in her loyalty, wisdom and service towards Mossley Methodist and the church family. Our friend and sister we are so thankful for you and will miss you deeply.

Alice Woods. Died September 3, 2017, peacefully

Anyone from Mossley Methodist who participated in the Belfast Loughshore Spring Walk in aid of Cancer Research UK on 18th March, may be interested in this invitation.

The organisers would like to extend an open invite to come along to the Council offices at Mossley Mill in Newtownabbey on Thursday 27th April between 7.30pm and 8.30pm to celebrate the success of the walk and to find out how much was raised from the event. Plus the opportunity to engage with the CRUK staff about the life-saving work of CRUK in Northern Ireland.

All of the details are below, however if you require any further information or indeed if you wish to attend, please contact Mark McMahon on 07775 790675 to confirm your attendance to allow for necessary arrangements.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs Frances Wylie. After being diagnosed recently with cancer, Frances passed away on Monday at home.

A long time member of our church, supporting many organisations and functions, Frances leaves behind her husband Billy and children Karen, Andrew and Sonya.

This Mother of three became a Mum to so many. Both Frances and Billy were only last year given recognition for their contribution to society with a ‘Long Service Award for Fostering’ …41 years in fact, giving love, happy memories and hope to over 100 children.

On behalf of everyone represented at Mossley Methodist we would like to offer our deepest condolences and the Lords comfort to Billy and all the family, far-reaching as it is.

The church funeral service will be held on Monday 20th of March at 12.00 noon, followed by a 1.20pm service at Roselawn Crematorium.

Quick, easy and highly effective flower arranging

The MWI were treated to surprisingly quick, easy and highly effective flower arranging techniques on Monday night. Because of popular demand I have posted the results below.

A big thank you to the Rev Keith Lindsay for sharing stories, reminiscing and informing us of the challenging mission work he is involved in through Acre International. (Click HERE for further information).
