You are not alone if you are drawn to the possibility of attending a church service over the Christmas period. We hear carols mixed with Christmas soundtracks whilst shopping, mixed in with TV adverts or over the car radio from December day one, However, it’s really special to hear and take part in singing them within a church setting through the retelling of the Christmas story.
Like many songs we sing in church the words are not only a personal comfort, but also prayers for the world we live in…
“Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask you to stay close by me for ever, and love me, I pray.” – Away In A Manger
So dear reader, whether you choose to (or not to) attend any of our listed services below, the leadership team at Mossley Methodist would like to send you their wishes through the words of another famous carol…
“Good tidings we bring to you and your kin. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
Blue Christmas, Wednesday 18th of December at 7pm
Carols by Candlelight, Sunday 22nd of December at 6.30pm
Christmas Eve, Watch Night Service, Tuesday 24th of December at 11pm
Christmas Morning Family Service, Wednesday 25th of December at 10am
Mossley Methodist continues to support the Newtownabbey Methodist Mission with their annual Gift Appeal, helping families in need at Christmas.
A new toy or game (for ages between 0 to 14) will be gladly received as part of next Sundays service, December 1st. Just place your gift unwrapped and under the tree at the front of the church.
ALSO if buying a present proves difficult, then maybe you would prefer donating to The Voucher Scheme. A NMM donation box will be provided to place your enveloped money gift. These donations will go towards buying gas & electricity vouchers for a family in Greater Newtownabbey this Christmas.
Many thanks in advance for your kindness and continued unwavering response!
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted,to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners (Isaiah 61:1)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother in Christ, James Twyford.
A much valued member of our church over many decades, James was without a doubt respected as a most positive and fun loving ‘gentle-man’.
James was always ready to encourage, and also to reassure that you were in his prayers, for James had a great belief in the power of prayer, and it was wonderful to sit in his presence and hear this first hand.
Attending and being part of so much of our church life over the years James will be truly missed …his smiling face that could brighten a room, and sound of his unique little laugh.
We can take great comfort in knowing that the Lord ‘our Jamesy’ loved so fervently has greeted him with open arms and welcomed him home.
James passed on 11th July 2019. Our condolences to William, Pauline and the family.
A Service will be held in Fleming & Cuthbert Funeral Home, 141 Mill Road, Ballyclare, BT39 9DZ on Wednesday 17th July at 11.00 a.m., with interment afterwards in Carnmoney Main Cemetery.
It has taken time to transpire, but we can firmly say that the evolution of this ‘Heart Space’ has ticked all boxes.
The end result is a practical space for like minded people to commune, while equally allowing the user to feel embraced within the quiet of Gods presence. All this has been made possible through the tasteful creativity of Christine.
A team of people helped source product and refurbish the space, formally known as ‘The Johnston Room’, from a once dreary echo chamber (am I being a little harsh?), into a cheerful, welcoming and much warmer (aided by the new wall heaters) environment.
Key feature changes would be smoothing the walls by plastering and painting, carpeting, spotlighting, louver blinds and new wall heaters and sockets.
Although the room splits into a soft seated area and a breakout area, users still feel the sense of community as they are drawn together by the wall art and accents of colour.
The Johnston Room still continues to serve the other purposes of church life and groups, whilst being a big draw for a cuppa both before and after Sunday service.
Thank you to everyone involved, most of all thank you to everyone who gave donations along with the legacy money left by Lena Campbell which allowed the project to get firmly off the ground.
